FixMargin — Acceptable Use Policy
Version 1.3 · Effective date: 5 September 2026
This Acceptable Use Policy (“AUP”) forms part of the FixMargin Terms of Service. It applies to every organisation and user of the Service. Breach may result in suspension or termination under the Terms.
1. Use the Service for its purpose
The Service is for managing the commercial and site activities of construction businesses. Use it only for lawful business purposes and in accordance with the Terms, the Documentation and your organisation’s own policies.
2. You must not
Content and data
- upload content you do not have the right to use, including third-party price lists, drawings or documents in breach of confidentiality or licence terms.
- upload personal data of operatives, suppliers or others without a lawful basis and any notice required by data-protection law.
- upload unlawful, defamatory, discriminatory, harassing or obscene material.
- upload malware or anything designed to damage, disrupt or gain unauthorised access to systems.
Security and access
- share login credentials or allow anyone other than the named user to use an account.
- attempt to access other organisations’ data, or bypass authentication, rate limits or plan limits.
- probe, scan or test the vulnerability of the Service, or run security testing of any kind, without our prior written authorisation (see §4).
- use automated tools to scrape, crawl, harvest or bulk-download content from the Service, including manufacturer system data, catalogue data and price intelligence.
- interfere with the Service’s operation, including by sending excessive requests.
Commercial misuse
- resell, rent, sublicense or provide the Service to third parties other than your Authorised Users.
- use the Service, its data or its outputs to build, train or benchmark a competing product.
- remove or obscure “Powered by FixMargin” marks on Free Tier exports, or our proprietary notices.
- misrepresent outputs of the Service as independent surveys, valuations or professional certifications.
Communications
- use the Service’s supplier email or sharing features to send spam, unsolicited marketing or misleading messages.
- impersonate any person or organisation.
3. Fair use of shared resources
Plan limits (users, projects, takeoffs) are described on the Pricing page. Where a Plan describes “unlimited” projects or similar, this is subject to fair use; we may contact you if usage is far outside normal patterns for your Plan and agree an appropriate plan or add-on.
4. Reporting vulnerabilities
If you become aware of a security vulnerability or misuse of the Service, tell us at support@fixmargin.com (subject “Security”) and do not attempt to exploit it, access data that is not yours, or disclose it publicly before we have had a reasonable opportunity to fix it. We do not currently operate a public vulnerability-testing programme: security testing requires our prior written authorisation, which you can request at the same address. Reports made in good faith in accordance with this section will not be treated as a breach of this policy.
5. Enforcement
We may investigate suspected breaches, remove content, suspend or terminate accounts, and cooperate with law enforcement where required. We will give notice where practicable and lawful.
